March 2010
We marched into March with some groovin' events, almost all of them fundraisers, so happy to help spread some good karma around! Our Belly Up Happy Hour was another packed house, nearly as full as our record breaker Happy Hour attendance in February. What a totally fun time with our Audience Fly Girl participation dance beign preformed that nite! Over 50+ galz came to rehearsals for a couple weeks and learned the routine to BPE "I Gotta Feelin' (AG version)" and "performed" on the jam packed dance floor that nite... go see it on
YouTube, it was so unbelievably awesome!! Smooches and Muwahs to all who participated! Shout Outs and thanks to all the folks who asked us to be a part of their fundraisers including the very special and heartfelt PAC Of Angels Benefit for Alex Capozza, with all attendees dressed in angelic white to support The Capozza's and The Jenna Druck Foundation. Plus all of the other fundraising that was all about the kids, which included OPE, OLG, TPHS and SBLL- now, that's alot of acronyms! Plus, we got to visit our favorite downtown nitelcub, Humphrey's By The Bay, and had a realllly fun time with a really groovin' crowd! That's March Madness, Atomic Groove-style!

WOW! Our biggest hi-lite of Feb., no of 2010, no of EVER, was our near capacity (just under 600) person crowd for our Happy Hour at the Belly Up Tavern of this month! We broke our own personal record of 375 and broke The Belly Up's Happy Hour attendance record, too! What a total blast! A packed house with really awesome energy, unbelievable! The band stepped it up more than usual and Carrie & the Fly Girlz performed their hearts out, complete in Valentine Themed attire and all. At 7p it felt like a Saturday nite @ 11p+, totally ragin' in a totally Good Feelin' kind of way. We had our sign ups for "Be An Audience Fly Girl" experience for the March show as well as a raffle drawing for a chance to "Be An On Stage Guest Fly Girl" for the April show, everyone was psyched about that! Other show of note was the Mardi Gras Fundraiser at The Torrey Pines Hilton in La Jolla, where we donned silly Mardi Gras attire and got the crowd pumped up with some really festive energy.

January 2010
HAPPY NEW YEAR! And HAPPY B-DAY TO AG, 15 years young! Our best January hi-lite def was our ragin' Happy Birthday Happy Hour at the Belly Up! We were "born" in January 1995, so we're ripe in teenager-dom! We had balloons, presents, the singing of happy b-day AND cupcakes! Yes, cupcakes, really! And we passed 'em out to the audience so everybody got some AG yum! AND they were made by one of our fabby Fly Girlz, Jen, with
a lot of AG love! Another show of mention in January was a super swanky Gala for the SD Opera, their annual dinner dance after the first opera of the season. We donned our tuxy formal attire and covered the entire spectrum of music, from classic jazz to
motown to disco to.... well, yes, we even rocked this swanky crowd with some Black Eyed Peas! So far, 2010
is super groovy!!!

AG was blessed with a totally rockin' and festive holiday season, fa-la-la-la-la-la! Even in this "economic down turn", people were still wanting to get out and groove! We had lots of hi-lites, too many to mention all, but this did include multiple showings at The Belly Up, for both private and public appearances. Since our pre-booked New Year's Eve gig fell out (clue: our client had something to do with a sweat lodge, whoa!), our last minute AG Happy New Year Happy Hour idea was a super
success (see a vid clip
of our rockin' 2nd set and pre-midnite countdown!) We drew in some partyin' peeps who were happy to get their groove on, early-style, for the last time
in '09. What a way to end a fabulous year for AG! Thanks to all who supported us this past year and all the years prior... and in all the years to come!

Our highlight of this month was def The Belly Up... we Had A Feelin' it would be! Esp with our debut of the ever-so-fun dance floor pleaser "I Got A Feelin'", AG proving again that we are the quintessential Variety Dance Band, getting a dance floor to respond and just have some good ol' fashioned dance happy fun, even at a Happy Hour! Sometimes at our Belly Up Happy Hours you would swear it was 11:30p and you were 20 years old! But it's 6:30p and you might be... 30 years old... ish (heehee). No matter what time it is or what age you are, Atomic Groove always delivers. What a super great crowd we had that nite, of ALL ages...take a look at our YouTube post of both
the 1st set and the
2nd set to see for yourself!
October 2009
We were Rockin' October with some really groovin' Atomic events. Hi-lites include: Our monthly Belly Up Happy Hour sure had a good feelin' this month, check out our
YouTube post and/or our Atomic Groove Facebook page.
The Atomic Girl Carrie and The Fly Girlz all donned splashes of pink in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness month and we did some extra special groovin' in support of this worthy girlie cause. Speaking of worthy, the Skeen/Benwell wedding was one of the best, funnest weddings we've played in a while! The room was full of love all nite long, not to mention good vibes and good spirits-everyone danced, EVERYONE! Check out our glowing
testimonial from the bride's parents and from the beautiful bride herself! She even posted an awesome shout out on our Atomic Groove Facebook page! Other notable shows included the superduper fundraiser/Halloween party we pulled together for the good folks supporting the American Cancer Society. There were roller derby girls, Posh Spice, OctoMom, a bunch of referees and some classic vampires, too. And though we were our compact Core Band configuration for this event, we had some honorary Fly Girlz as stand ins (see photo), what a great costume and oh so appropriate for Atomic Groove. We got a big kick out of that!!! This crowd got on the dance floor and just didn't stop all nite long. We had a groovin', spooky good time in the warehouse and so did the festive attendees. Check out our gushing
testimonial from the party's planner, Risa,
whoo-hoo!!

September 2009
Our September hi-lites starts off with a deep appreciation for AG's personal favorite time of year, the Indian Days of Summer ...and it's back to school time! Which means it's time for the 2nd annual "Back to School Special Happy Hour" at The Belly Up. It was requested, nay, DEMANDED that we had a reprise of this special themed Happy Hour from last year. And we were happy to oblige, complete with the Fly School Girlz and a heavy curriculum of some intense Atomic Groovin'. The dance floor was jam packed all happy hour long with a super responsive, attentive crowd. Surprise guests included the uber talented, world class Monette as guest conga player and another mega slammin' dance spotlight on hip hop extraordinaire Fusion Ludlow. The AG Band got a Gold Star for another exemplary performance, The Fly School Girlz totally made the grade and the crowd gets extra credit for extra exuberance! Another hi-lite of interest was the Oceanside Harbor Days event, always such a great way to spend a beautiful Indian Summer Day, and we sure did Have A Ball. Next, we must make mention of our rare casino appearance out at Viejas, and, actually, had a rather fun time playing in the intimate V-Lounge atmosphere. We got those lounge peeps goin', of course! Another event of interest was for a grand opening for a local Encinitas business that proved to be quite a groove fest for all, totally fun! Ah, September... it definitely was an A+ month for AG!

August 2009
Summer kept heatin' up with a bunch
of super fun AG gigs, with a huge emphasis on Variety to please each unique
audience to the max! The beginning of the month started with a couple of (more)
summer community concerts, always such a blast! Our San Elijo repeat
performance, this year up on the ball field, was an amazing amount of fun, a
Home Run! Complete with another appearance of the L'il Fly Girlz (daughters of
Fly Girl Jess), who made their debut at the Fiesta
del Sol show back in June. Speaking of kids and stage, it must be stated
that a surprisingly orderly onstage onslaught of The Kidz of SEH was amazing-
they all waited patiently the whole show to be asked on stage and, when invited,
stormed the stage in the most well-mannered of ways. The Kidz of SEH proceeded
to dance and rock out on stage with delight...and then very obediently exited
the stage with no one getting hurt or crying! Impressive! The very next day we
played for the good people of Carmel Valley for the season closer of their
summer concerts. We had another Li'l Fly Girlz appearance and got a lot of The
Girlz of CV joining in on the Fly Girlz moves... and doing it really well! Looks
like we'll be scouting the CV area for up & coming Fly Girlz! Speaking of
new Fly Girlz, we had an AWESOME Belly Up Happy Hour in August, which featured a
guest Fly Girl, Laura. Similar to the Guest Fly Girlz situation we had in May
(see News May 2009 below), we had another auction item winner of an AG donation
from a recent fundraiser, "Be An AG Fly Girl Dancer For A Nite". Laura
nailed being a Fly Girl like you wouldn't believe! She had tons of support from
her friends in the audience cheering her on for her Fly Girl debut and the
entire Belly Up was electrified from the energy in the packed room. Also making
an appearance that nite was 7.5 month preggie Fly Girl Jana, who jumped on stage
and got funky with her L'il Fly Girl in the oven! We also had the pleasure of
doing 2 wedding anniversaries, a 25 year-er with an intimate group at Powerhouse
Park in Del Mar, and a 10 year-er with a couple hundred+ at the Hilton Torrey
Pines in La Jolla. Both equally full of love with family and friends celebrating
together, both clients equally as happy to have Atomic Groove be a part of it (see
August testimonials). We also did a super fun wedding reception, with a very
casual & cool beach theme (no ties were allowed, beach wear encouraged).
Atomic Girl Carrie and Keyboardist Rob had the pleasure of performing for the
actual ceremony and the bride & groom were thrilled. All of the August shows
featured the breadth of our musical variety skills... from being super musically
diverse for the family concerts, which included lots of funky stuff and some
current hi-energy dance tunes, to sticking with the classics with requested
swing & Motown for the anniversary events as just an example. The
"V" in Atomic Groove def stands for "Variety", and we did it
in the most atomic of ways all of August!

July 2009
Our summer is popping with a variety of
summery events. Hi-lites include our annual July 4th house party in Rancho Santa Fe,
where we had the backyard rockin', including the ever popular onstage invite for all, kids and
kids at heart. Then there was our first experience down south in Pt. Loma.
This was a super fun outdoor family community concert that got totally rave reviews
(see testimonial)! Here's a link to their site for some AG pics groovin' with the fine folks of Pt.
Loma. The very next event
of note was the very next nite, a super classy but totally groovin' wedding at La Estancia in La Jolla for Blair & Travis- and everyone had a great time. Wedding coordinator Kasey of "I Do... Weddings" was fabulous to work with and the feelings were mutual
(see testimonial). Bride & Groom were stoked
(see testimonial) and they were on the dance floor
non-stop, especially during our super-charged AG rendition of their very special request of "Baby's Got Back"!
And, finally, we must always make mention of our monthly Belly Up Happy Hours, and July had one of the happiest vibes EVER, which says alot, cuz they're all pretty darn happy!! Groovin', rockin', sweatin', this happy hour had it all and then some. July was definitely a hot one for AG!

June 2009
No June gloom for AG, no sirree, we were doing lots of fun, cheery stuff like a schwanky Country Club event, the ever effervescent Fiesta del Groove, er, I mean Fiesta del Sol (see
testimonial and a couple of funs pics below) and, of course, one of our monthly rockin' Happy Hours a The Belly Up (see pic below) to name a few. We're looking forward to a Groovey summer with you all!

May 2009
What A Merry, Merry month of May for Atomic Groove! We did a couple of delightful house parties in Rancho Santa Fe, some more fabulous fundraisers (including RSFCC, ECC, Temple Solel), and our record breaking, near capacity Happy Hour at the Belly Up Tavern!!! So it was a good month indeed. As referenced in our March news, we did a fundraiser back in March where we donated an auction item of "Be An AG Fly Girl Dancer" and our awesome trio of Guest Fly Girlz performed at this roof raisin' May Belly Up Happy Hour- and they did us AG Fly Girl Proud! Nora, Sara and Joan strutted their stuff on our groovy old skool AG renditions of Brick House, Dancing Queen and We Are Family like nobody's business, and the crowd went wild! Check out some of the photos below, make sure you get to one of our super rockin' monthly Happy Hours this summer!

April 2009
Man, what a totally rockin' Friday nite Happy Hour at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach for April! This was definitely the hi-lite of the month for us, for sure! Being the super versatile Variety Dance Band we are, we dedicated this Happy Hour to the Totally Awesome 80s, as Carrie & The Fly Girlz donned Big Hair and Madonna-esque attire. We "Into The Grooved" in more ways than one! This was one of our best attended Happy Hours in our 4+ year history of once a month shows, and by 6:45p the house was pumpin' (Up The Jam) like it was midnite! Folks of an impressively wide range of ages enjoyed AG's blast into the Big 80s. Atomic G Happy Hours aren't just for the typical "The Early Birds" types, no siree! What a great, responsive, interactive crowd, talk about WOW! Make sure you make it to the next Happy Hour with AG, you're never quite sure what or who or how the exciting show is gonna go- but one thing is for sure, it's always, always a BLAST!

March 2009
We did so many fundraisers in March we can't stop silent auctioning! But seriously, take a peak at the pics below, which include a Little League fundraiser (check out our field banner!) and a few school fundraisers. Being the good sports we are, we joined in on the themes for these, such as a disco/70s theme, a baseball theme, and even a Mardis Gras. We had a lot of fun, guests had fun, AND we helped raise some money for some kids, not to mention raising the spirits of many adults, with these very festive and successful events! We even contributed with an auction item of "Be A Fly Girl For A Belly Up Happy Hour" nite, so keep that in mind for your next fundraiser! We even made it into the local newspaper The Solana Beach Sun, go to
www.solanabeachsun.net/life/255469-annual-event-raises-funds-for-torrey-pines-high for a blurb on the event and a great pic of Carrie and Fly Girlz Jen & Dawn! Be watching for updates on an upcoming Belly up show for these guest Fly Girlz' debut! Speaking of the Belly Up, we also had a super rockin' Belly Up Happy Hour in March where we re-capped our Disco theme for part of the show, what a hoot!

February 2009
We were non-stop for this group of over 300 defense lawyers heralding from all over the Good Ol' U.S. of A, representin' from all over our fine nation, including Alabama, Chicago, and more! The floor was pah-hacked from the first note of the dance set (see
testimonial) and after our elegant, jazzy entrance set, we came back for a post-dinner dance set...and we did not stop for 2+ hours, and nor did they! In inimitable, classic AG "Variety Dance Band Entertainment" style, we catered our playlist specific to their request- classic rock and motown- so we "Sweet Home Alabama-ed", "Sugar Pie Honey Bunched", "Proud Mary-ed", "Heatwaved" and so on and so on 'til the Defense (literally) rested. We even learned a special classic rock song, "Mississippi Queen", for the President's wife that brought the house down! The Core Band configuration plus 2 Fly Girlz wowed these folks somethin' special, and they were by far the funnest bunch of Law Folk we've had the pleasure to Groove with in a long time, we solemnly swear!
January 2009
This company party post-holiday was a superb way to start off the new year- an intimate gathering of 75 of the folks from the company's sales team division got fired up with a post dinner awards presentation and it segued beautifully into a Totally Awesome dance set. The theme was "80s Prom Nite" so we donned some 80s -ish apparel, as did many of the guests, and proceeded to work our way thru all the most funnest stuff from that decade- we Go-Go-ed, we Footloosed, we had some Good Vibrations Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch style, we even Lived On a Prayer, with guest Robert taking the mic and hitting the high notes!
Check the Public Events page for the next chance to join AG for some great
Groovin'!
